Family Resources

Our Partnership Promise

A multigenerational family of seven posing together outdoors in an autumn setting. They are gathered around a tree stump decorated with pumpkins and autumn-themed decor, with some children sitting on the stump. The scene includes fall foliage and a residential building in the background.
A family of three, a woman, a man, and a young boy, are outdoors in a backyard during autumn, kneeling on the grass surrounded by fallen leaves. The woman and man are holding the boy's hands. Trees with fall foliage and pumpkins are visible in the background.

At Johnson County Academy, we believe that when parents feel supported, children feel secure — and secure children are free to learn, explore, and grow with confidence.

By fostering open communication, sharing knowledge, and connecting families with trusted resources, we create a circle of care that surrounds each child.

Together, we celebrate progress, navigate challenges, and model the empathy and emotional intelligence we hope to instill in every learner.

Our partnership with families isn’t just part of our program — it’s the heart of who we are.

Parent Support & Referrals

Guidance

Our teachers and administrators work closely with families to support every stage of early development — from adjusting to school routines to navigating social growth and emotional milestones.
Through daily communication, observation notes, and family conferences, we help parents understand the “why” behind their child’s behavior, learning style, and developmental progress. Together, we celebrate successes and gently guide growth areas, ensuring that home and school work in harmony.

Referrals

When additional support may benefit a child, we assist families with compassion and professionalism.
We maintain strong relationships with local specialists — including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral consultants, and play therapists — who share our whole-child philosophy.
Our referral process is family-centered: we collaborate with parents to discuss observations, outline goals, and connect them to reputable professionals who can offer individualized strategies.
This thoughtful partnership helps families feel informed, supported, and never alone in their child’s developmental journey.

Support

Throughout the year, we provide family resources that explore topics most relevant to early childhood and family life.
Sessions may include:

  • Building emotional intelligence at home

  • Establishing peaceful routines and positive discipline

  • Encouraging independence through Montessori-inspired practices

  • Supporting early literacy, math, and language at home

  • Nurturing sibling relationships and transitions

These gatherings offer parents the chance to learn from our educators and from one another — creating a true community of shared understanding and growth.

Ongoing Communication

We believe that communication builds trust and connection. Families receive regular updates through Brightwheel, newsletters, and event calendars that highlight classroom activities, upcoming events, and developmental insights.
Our communication philosophy is simple: families should always feel in the loop and in partnership.
Whether it’s a message about your child’s joyful day or a school-wide initiative, we ensure that every communication reflects transparency, warmth, and care.
